Son Bunyola Hotel and Villas
Restoration of a 14th-century finca to create a 26-key ultra-luxury hotel and three exclusive villas on a 1,300-acre estate.
Project Description
Son Bunyola brought together the conservation of a highly protected centuries-old Mallorcan finca and the expectations of a contemporary ultra-luxury hotel. The project had to accommodate 26 hotel keys and three private villas while retaining the identity, historic fabric, and setting that made the estate distinctive under stringent Spanish conservation regulations. A five-year planning period reflects the care required to reconcile heritage parameters, design ambition, technical performance, and consent before construction could begin. Delivery then demanded close coordination across architecture, interiors, specialist restoration, hospitality operations, and a supply chain working within a bespoke Spanish contractual framework.
The completed hotel was awarded a MICHELIN Key in the Guide’s inaugural 2025 selection and retained it in 2026, recognition of the finished asset rather than the works themselves, but a useful measure of what the restoration delivered.
