Necker Island Reinstatement

Full island reinstatement after the damage sustained by Hurricane Irma in late 2017.

Project Description

The reinstatement of Necker Island was a whole-estate recovery programme in the immediate aftermath of a Category 5 hurricane. With regional supply chains, materials, and labor pools entirely decimated, traditional procurement had to be abandoned. Rather than rebuilding a single property, the work addressed an operational private island with multiple buildings, infrastructure, and guest facilities that needed to return to use in a coordinated sequence. The programme was delivered through a client-led self-delivery model, establishing an independent global supply network to bypass severe local bottlenecks. Remote logistics, limited island capacity, and the need to restore operations made temporary works, workforce planning, and quality control inseparable from the design and construction process.
