Kasbah Tamadot

18-bed new-build extension to the existing Kasbah Tamadot, and reinstatement of the existing property following a significant earthquake in the region.

Project Description

Kasbah Tamadot began as a major new-build extension to an established mountain hotel, adding an 18-bedroom riad while protecting the character and operation of the existing property. Executing this in the remote Atlas Mountains inherently involved intricate supply chain and local labor management. The programme then changed materially following the 2023 regional earthquake, requiring urgent disaster-recovery and reinstatement works to be integrated with the planned development. This created two overlapping priorities: recovering the existing hotel and completing a substantial addition to it. The project demanded adaptable planning, careful coordination of old and new fabric, and commercial risk management within a bespoke Moroccan contractual environment.

Following its reopening, Kasbah Tamadot was awarded three MICHELIN Keys, the Guide’s highest distinction, in both 2025 and 2026, one of only two hotels in Morocco to hold that rating. It was also named among TIME’s World’s Greatest Places 2025, with the citation crediting the post-earthquake reopening and the new riads.
